How to Propose a New Academic Credential
- Consult the Curriculum Actions and the Academic Policy pages at the Curriculum Development site to determine approval requirements for the curriculum proposal. Any new curriculum will need to be either presented at Graduate or Undergraduate Council. The resources at the Curriculum Development site will give you an overview of what will be required.Ìý
Ìý Complete the cover sheet and submit it to Academic Affairs. The cover sheet is available at under Curriculum Development Documents and Forms at the Curriculum Development website.Ìý
a. Consult the Calendars and Schedules section of the Curriculum Development website to determine deadlines for submitting proposals and meeting dates.
All new curriculum proposals going before council (with the exception of new dual degrees) should have a CourseLeaf program proposal submitted accompanying the cover.Ìý
a. Access the program proposal through the CourseLeaf dashboard. Links are available under CourseLeaf Links at the Ìý Curriculum Development site.Ìý
b. If you are proposing a new program based on an existing program, go to step 4.
c. Click on the green propose new program button.Ìý
d. Complete the program proposal form. Answers to most questions will be on the cover sheet or informational memo you have completed. Consult the job aid section of the Curriculum Development site for support creating the program of study course grid. The form is configured so users can save information entered in the form and return to it by clicking the 'Save' button on the form. Click 'Start Workflow' when all information has been entered to submit it into workflow. Go to step 5.
Users can copy information from an existing program and use it in a new proposal. This may be a time-saving step for proposals using a substantial amount of program information in a new proposal such as a proposal for a new concentration for an existing degree.Ìý
a. Click on the green propose new program button.Ìý
b. Click on the green 'Propose New from Existing Program' button.
c. Find the existing program that will serve as the basis of for the new program. Programs are organized by program and department. Users may search for programs, as well. Once the existing program has been selected, click the 'Copy Program' button.Ìý
d. Complete the program proposal form with information for the new program. Answers to most questions will be on the cover sheet or informational memo you have completed. Consult the job aid section of the Curriculum Development site for support creating the program of study course grid. The form is configured so users can save information entered in the form and return to it by clicking the 'Save' button on the form. Click 'Start Workflow' when all information has been entered to submit it into workflow. Go to step 5.
You or a departmental representative will need to attend either graduate or undergraduate council to either announce or present your changes. Please refer to the Curriculum Actions and Academic Policy sections of the Curriculum Development site for details on what materials are required.Ìý
a. For actions requiring council voting, you will be notified of the outcome after voting has concluded.Ìý
b. Go to step 5 for instructions on the program change and the proposal record.

Ìý - After receiving notification of the proposal record being approved, edit the bulletin as needed. The nextbulletin site should reflect the curriculum change after the CourseLeaf record is approved.Ìý
