Summer Aid

While some of our standard financial aid options are unavailable during summer quarters, we do offer limited aid opportunities for students who opt to takeÌýsummer classes. If you apply by the priority deadline and meet eligibility requirements, you'll have the option to receive a comparable amount of merit- and need-based aid as you would each quarter during the academic year.

Types of Summer Aid Available

  • Institutional Aid

    Institutional aid eligibility is determined by your expected enrollment as well as the information provided on yourÌýÌýandÌý. If you're an undergraduate student enrolled in a DU degree program, you'll receive a summer grant comparable to the amount of merit- and need-based funding you received each quarter during the academic year.

  • Federal Aid and Loans

    In order to receive federal aid for the summer term, you must have submitted aÌýÌýand be enrolled in at least 6 credits. If you're enrolled in less than six credits, you may apply for private loans only. We'll offer any Federal Direct loanÌýor Pell grant for which you are eligible.

    Summer is considered the last term of the academic year. Therefore, your eligibility for Direct loans will depend on what you already received in the fall, winter, and spring quarters. Your eligibility for a summer Pell grant will depend on your 2025-26 and 2026-27 FAFSA (if submitted).

    Parent PLUS Loans:ÌýParents of dependent students who are enrolled in at least six credits may borrow a Parent PLUS loan to help finance the cost of the summer term. The application is available online throughÌý. Parents must pass a credit check or have a credit-worthy endorser in order to receive this loan.

    Private Education Loans:ÌýIf you're enrolled in less than six credits for the summer quarter, you can apply for a private education loan directly with the lender of your choice. Learn more >>

  • Work-Study

    ÌýIf you have been offered work-study for the 2025-26 academic year, you may begin working as early as July 14, 2025.
