Chosen for its strong outcomes, accessible admissions, and vibrant campus life, the Â鶹Çø is helping students turn big dreams into reality—on campus and far beyond.
As the fall quarter begins, the Â鶹Çø welcomes a new class of nearly 1,180 first-year students, each bringing their own story, ambitions, and dreams for the future.Ìý
While attending DU is a dream come true for many students, the rest of the country is now taking notice. This week, DU earned a coveted spot among 75 institutions highlighted in higher education journalist Jeffrey Selingo's , "Dream School: Finding the College That's Right for You." Based on Selingo's in-depth research, the guide highlights colleges and universities for their impressive outcomes, accessible admissions, and vibrant campus life—qualities evident in DU's 77% graduation rate, its close-knit community, and its commitment to helping students thrive.
For many students, the recognition reflects their personal experience.Ìý
"I'm an out of state student, and DU was my dream school because it was a chance for a fresh start," says Anna Filippova, a senior majoring in communications and political science with a minor in socio-legal studies. "With its location between the mountains and the city, I could explore nature, be close to a vibrant downtown, and go to classes all in one place. Once I arrived, the personable professors, friendly atmosphere, and opportunities for growth further confirmed I'd made the right choice."
Set near the Rocky Mountains and downtown Denver, DU gives students access to internships, research, cultural opportunities, and outdoor adventures—all woven into DU's 4D Experience, which focuses on intellectual growth, character exploration, lives and careers of purpose, and well-being.Ìý
"We are thrilled to be recognized among the nation's 'Dream Schools,'" says Chancellor Jeremy Haefner. "This reflects our commitment to providing a high-quality education and helping our students reach their full potential. At DU, students gain the knowledge, skills, and support needed to thrive—both on campus and in their professional lives ahead."
"I've had the best experience so far," says Michelle Erowhedo, a first-year graduate law student from Nigeria. "I've had the most interactive and interesting classes, different from anything I've ever experienced. Everyone has been so kind and helpful, and I love the focus on career services here at DU."
DU's academic strengths also play a major role, especially for students with interdisciplinary interests. Ethan Baltimore, a senior majoring in business analytics and international relations with a minor in French, says DU is his "Dream School" because it's given him the opportunity to meet his academic and personal goals.Ìý
"The academic strengths of the and aligned perfectly with my interests, and DU's small, personalized class structure allowed me to engage more fully with the content," Baltimore says. "On a personal level, the study abroad program gave me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of the world and fulfill my dream of travelling across Europe. DU has been my dream school because of the immersive learning experiences that helped me develop as a person."
This recognition joins a growing list of accolades for the Â鶹Çø. In the latest Princeton Review Best Colleges rankings, DU earned high marks across nine categories, including Top 10 placements for "Their Students Love These Colleges" and "Best College Library."
"This designation reinforces what we hear from our students every year—the Â鶹Çø is a great school in one of America's best cities," says Todd Rinehart, vice chancellor for enrollment. "When it comes to college selection, don't sleep on DU."
