Campus-wide Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Using Duo

Duo Multi-Factor Authentication

What is Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

What is Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)? The Â鶹Çø provides Duo security to help students, faculty, and staff protect themselves—and the University—against cybercrime. Duo Multi-Factor Authentication enhances security by adding a second layer of authentication to your login. Duo is stronger than a password alone because it uses two factors to confirm your identity: something you have (such as your phone or device) and something you know (your password).

Duo MFA is required for all employees, students, special community members, and DU users who access Office 365 email and applications, VPN, or any other services protected by Duo MFA.

Initial Instructions for Setting up Duo

When you log in to your account for the first time using a newly created DU email and an activation link from DU IT, you’ll be prompted to set up Duo MFA. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

When prompted, download the Duo Mobile app from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. It’s the easiest and fastest sign-in method available.
