This self-paced course will equip animal welfare workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to engage community members and colleagues in supportive and collaborative relationships that are grounded in safety, trust, and belonging. Through readings, video lectures, and reflective activities, intrapersonal and interpersonal skills and strengths-based frameworks will be explored. Topics such as mindset, implicit bias, trust-building, facilitating psychological safety, positionality, and empowerment are reviewed in the context of culturally responsive community engagement in animal welfare.
